The Box

                          The Box

After both my parents passed away, I traveled to their city to help my sister dispose of items in their house. My daughter had just bought her first house and presented me with a short list of items, from her grandparents' house, that she was interested in having, if no one else in the family was. In one picture, she had circled an old wooden box. My sister agreed that my daughter could have this box, which was old and worn, about one foot square and 8 inches thick. It appeared to be an antique portable desk. In searching the compartments, there was an old letter, written 30 years ago and never delivered, from my mother to my daughter, when she was six years old. It was a typical letter from a grandparent, congratulating her about a good report card and telling her about their cat. It was remarkable that my daughter specifically requested this box, not realizing that there was a 30-year old letter from her grandma, waiting to be found inside.
So, the box was brought to my daughter and she was very surprized and impressed to find this letter.
Isn't this like our heavenly Father, who writes us letters and leaves them to be found in the most unexpected places and circumstances. He can use a forgotten 30-year old letter to bring comfort and joy to our hearts.
